Showjumper of the year
2011
The Competition is open to all Junior and Senior riders who are fully paid up members of an affiliated British Riding Club. Adults must have attained their 18th birthday on or before the 1st January 2010. Juniors must not have attained their 18th birthday on or before the 1st January 2010.
The British Riding Club Rule Book applies, with the following Variations –
Junior Novice – Fences 70cm max, pony to have no more than 15 SJAI points
Junior Open – Fences 90cm max, Pony to have no more than 160 SJAI Points
Senior Novice – Fences 80cm max, Horses to have no SJAI Points
Senior Open – Fences 1m max, Horses to have no more than 67 SJAI Points
Seniors must ride 14hh and above
Date of Birth must be included with Entry
Proper Dress MUST Be worn
Participants RC must insure that they are capable of competing at the level entered
Rider may Qualify as many animals as they like and may ride them all in the Final
No horse / pony may jump twice
1st – 4th place in Qualifiers may enter the final
Qualifiers £15.00 ea – 2 Round competition plus 1 round speed
FINAL £20.00

Rules and Constitution
1.The Club shall be known as Mossvale Riding Club.
2.The objects of the club shall be a. To encourage riding as a sport and recreation, to promote good fellowship amongst riders and to improve and maintain the standard of riding and horsemanship. b. To organise instructional meetings, lectures, competitive events and any other activities deemed t c. To support and co-operate with recognised organisations interested in the breeding and use, of all breeds and types of horses and ponies. d. To maintain full affiliation to the British Horse Society.
3.Membership a. This shall consist of persons between the age of 7 and 18 as junior members. Those who have attained the age of 18 as adult members. b. The annual subscription shall be payable on the first day of the club’s financial year. No member, riding or non-riding, may attend any club activity following the AGM, until full membership has been paid. Membership fees not paid by the 1st December in any year will incur a penalty of £5 in addition to the annual amount. Any member whose subscription is more than three months in arrears shall have his/her name removed from the membership list, after written notice to the effect has been sent to him/her. c. Any member joining the club between 1st October and 31st march in any financial year shall be liable for full membership fees. Any member joining the club between 1st April and 30th June in any financial year shall be liable for half membership fees for that year. Any member joining the club between the 1st July and 30th September in any financial year shall be liable for one Quarter Membership fees for that year. d. The committee may expel from membership of the club any member who has wilfully disobeyed any of the rules of the club, or who has in the opinion of the committee, been guilty of conduct derogatory to the character, or predjudicial to the interests, of the club, provided that before expelling him/her. The committee shall call upon him/her for an explanation of his/her conduct and shall hear what he/she has to urge his/her defence. e. Any member can choose to represent the club. f. Members chosen and having attended 30% of all club activities in the current year, may be considered for a percentage of club funds towards costs of representing the club. g. Preference for team selection shall be given to those having attended 30% of all club activities in the current year.
4.The Committee a. All powers of management shall be vested in the adult committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon.Secretary, Hon.Treasurer, and a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve other committee members. Five members shall form a quorum. b. The decision of the committee shall be final , unless overruled at a general meeting by a majority vote. Adult members only are eligible to vote. c. The committee shall be sole authority for the interpretation of the rules, or for anything relating to the club not provided therein, and their decision shall be final and binding to the members. d. The committee may formulate bye-laws, for the detailed runnning of the club, and elect sub-committees for any special activities of the club which the committee shall authorise. e. The committee shall have the power to fill any casual vacancy arising among members of the committee, to complete the retired members’ term of office. The member so nominated will be eligible for re-election at future annual general meetings. f. Any committee member absenting him/herself without good cause from more than 75% of meetings and major club fixtures, shall be deemed to have had his committee nomination suspended and shall be notified as such. Any such member will not be eligible for re-election in future years. g. The procedure for re-election of committee in future years is on three year cycle.
5. The financial year of the club shall commence on 1st September in each year.
6. The annual subscription shall be decided each year and approved at the AGM, having due regard to the financial standing of the club at that time.
7. The club shall have an Hon.President, This person shall not, by virtue only of such appointment, become a member of committee.
8. The Annual General Meeting shall be held on the third thursday of september of each year to transact the following business a. To receive and if approved, to adopt a statement of the clubs accounts to the end of the preceding financial year. b. To fill vacancies on the committee. c. To appoint an auditor for the incoming year. d. To deal with any special mater which the committee may desire to bring before the members, and to receive suggestions from the members for consideration by the committee. e. Having regard to the statement of the club’s accounts, to agree subscriptions for the ensuing year. f. Notice convening the AGM shall be sent to each member not less than 14 days before the meeting and shall specify the matters to be dealt with.
9. A special general meeting may be called by the committee, or by written request to the secretary, signed by not less than five adult members, specifying the business to be discussed. The secretary shall give all members 10 days notice of the date of such a meeting, and shall specify in such notice matters to be dealt with at said meeting.
10. The accounts of the club shall be audited each year by the person appointed at the previous AGM.
11. Notice may be given to any member by sending it by post to him/her at his/her address currently registered in the records of the club. The accidental omission to give notice of a meeting, or the non-receipt of such notice shall not invalidate the proceedings of that meeting.
12. The club, its committee or persons acting on their behalf , shall not be held responsible for any accident or injury to any person or property, howsoever caused.
Dressage
Rider :
- All riders must wear a 3 point harness hat to standard PAS015 or EN1384.
- A show jacket with stock or tie, or club coat or jumper.
- White or other light coloured Jodphurs.
- Plain Leather or rubber riding boots.
- Plain coloured gloves must be worn.
Horse :
- Must be smart and tidy.
- A snaffle bridle must be used.
- White or plain saddle cloth or numnah.
- No martingales or bit guards.
- No boots .
